news from RIC JERROM

Ric emailed us - this is part of it:
"Summer's over, the shades of Autumn crawl across what passes for a lawn. (I had) a rare visit from Dave Holland, musician & enter-tainer. Played him the NEW IM-PROVED version of Jumble Lane. It transpires that he wrote "A Train Ago Last Saturday" - the tune, anyway. Has no idea, though, who wrote, or sang, the lyrics: I am now certain it wasn't me. Sorry! I'm attaching a pic of (Mike) and Liam, and some of me (as "The Professor") and my masked audience during "The Quest" - the huge performance perambulation thing I've been inventing/doing: third annual one this year".

NEWS IN BRIEF

PILGRYM'S PROGRESS
Pilgrym's album Pilgrimage has now been released by Record Heaven in Sweden. The first pressing has sold out, and it's on to its second run. Still getting good reviews and radio plays round the world.

JOHN PEEL John's unexpected death leaves the music world a poorer place. As with so many new bands and independent labels, John helped Holyground early on - playing tracks from our Astral Navigations album in 1971. Later he played arguably the best track from Bill Nelson's Northern Dream, recorded completely at Holyground by Mike Levon, 'Everyone's Hero', and in 1971, Mike Levon and Dave Wood went to London to meet John as agreed, but unfortunately John had got himself double booked. Mike still has a postcard from John apologising for announcing "Boogie Music from Holyground in Keighley". Our condolences to John's family.

Bill Nelson also spoke of John on BBC Radio Leeds this week, and James Addyman, who has a music show on the station, wrote : "I put Stanley Blues Tail from the Electrotype CD on the Psychedelic Special the other week - some nice over the top acid guitar lines on that one!"

A postcard from John Peel, 1971.
MIKE SPURR Hammond organ player with Last Exit from the Tears On The Console album has made contact - still playing! Mike and he hope to meet soon.
SALES The best selling albums in the HOLYGROUND THE WORKS series in the first half of this year were:

1 Blue Epitaph's Ode 2 Astral Navigations
3 Gagalactyca 4 Jumble Lane.

R
Remaining in the series: No. Nine Bread Street, A - Austr & Tears on the Console. All to be released early 2005.

& STRANGENESS AND CHARM reissue

Originally released in a collector's edition in 1999, this album is being remixed now, and complete with new artwork, it will be released in a few weeks. All tracks are slightly different, some (like BETWEEN THE LINES) very much so.
There's a bonus track - an alternative mix of the JOINT album's reworking of 'So....".

The CD has an eight page colour booklet, and as with all Holyground releases, a dedicated web page where addition information, words to songs, links and pictures may be found. And a nice low price of £7.99.
